How long does it take to resolve a wage claim?
Return to FAQ VideosTranscript:
The general rule is, if you work, you should get paid for it within a reasonable period of time. If you are forced as an employee to bring a claim to get paid wages that you have already earned, those cases can take a long time. They can take as long as one to two years. There are ways to expedite the process. One way would be not doing it on your
own, not going to small claims court, but hiring a professional labor and employment law lawyer to do that claim for you. That might expedite the process. There is also the
Department of Labor that can be a source of help for that as well.
